Shares of Confluent surged nearly 30% Monday morning after IBM announced a deal to acquire the software maker for $31 per share, valuing Confluent at $11 billion.
IBM shares have risen 40% this year so far through Friday’s close amid optimism about its AI strategy. It said in October that it had agreed a partnership with Anthropic to use the AI startup’s models in IBM software.
